From the Desk of Parkville Police Chief Kevin Chrisman:
Annual Storm Spotter Training
Wednesday, March 21, 2012
Breckon Sports Center off 6th Street
Many people who are fascinated by the weather have an interest in serving as a storm spotter. The National Weather Service needs real time reports of hail size, wind speed, tornado development and known damage, in order to effectively warn the public. Even as new technology allows the Weather Service to issue warnings with more lead time, spotters will always serve as links between radar indications of severe weather and ground truth information.
The National Weather Service will train you and your family to recognize the different types of weather events and what makes these events particularly dangerous to you. Join us to understand what it takes to be a Severe Weather Spotter.
