On March 9, 2012, Platte County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Kansas City Police Department served a search warrant at a residence in the 5400 block of 70th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. The Sheriff’s Office received complaints from neighbors that the residence was being used for parties involving minors and that they believed that narcotics were being used at the residence.
Based on information obtained by deputies a search warrant for the residence was obtained. Four individuals were taken into custody for minor in possession and related charges. Narcotics paraphernalia and stolen street signs were also recovered from the residence.
Sheriff Anderson stated that party houses cannot only be a nuisance to neighbors but present a danger to the public as a whole when people drive from the parties impaired. Sheriff Anderson also noted that while the residence in this case was located inside of Kansas City, Missouri, all citizens of Platte County have access to the services of the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office is regularly involved in cases throughout all Platte County including cases inside of city limits within Platte County.
