Commission Approves Sales Tax Holiday

From the County Commission:

Platte County will be participating in the 2012 Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday. With a 3-0 vote in Monday’s regularly scheduled Administrative Session, the Platte County Commission approved Commission Order #2012-CO-013 adopting the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday for Platte County Sales Taxes in 2012

“Platte County is open for business and we want to encourage anyone who is investing in more energy efficient appliances to take advantage of the sales tax exemption and shop in Plate County during the week of April 19th,” stated 1st District Commissioner, Kathy Dusenbery.
The commission order authorizes participation by exempting qualified purchases from Platte County sales taxes, up to one thousand five hundred dollars per appliance, during a seven (7) day period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on April 19th and ending at midnight on April 25th.  Qualifying items may include clothes washers, water heaters, dishwashers, air conditioners, furnaces, refrigerators, and freezers.

“This is a great opportunity for Platte County residents to save their hard earned dollars at the check-out counter and on their utility bills if they choose to upgrade to a more efficient appliance” commented Jim Plunkett, 2nd District Commissioner.

The County Clerk was asked to provide a certified copy of the order to the Missouri Department of Revenue no later than March 1, 2012 as notice of Platte County’s official participation in the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.
